Mothman in the Wild (and Mothma'am)
Somewhere along the way, making Mothman stopped being just about making the sculpture. He became a character, a little piece of a world that I get to bring to life.
I had the absolute joy of collaborating with Ariana of Ariana Jordan Photography in Berea, Kentucky, and together we fulfilled a dream that I think both of our nine-year-old selves would have been pretty thrilled about: frolicking through the woods, playing Mothman and fairy, and making beautiful, slightly magical photographs.
There are moments as an artist when everything just feels right. This was one of those moments for me. I have never felt more joyful, more playful, or more complete in my creative work than I did creating these photographs with Ariana.
These images capture my Mothmen the way I imagine them—in the woods, in the wild, mischievous, curious, romantic, and completely at home in their strange little world.
From individual Mothmen to weddings and whatever wonderfully weird idea comes next, I’m incredibly excited to keep creating this little photographic world and sharing it with you.
